Premieres for Romania, in the competition of Ceau, Cinema!

Six films made by directors from Bulgaria, Croatia, Italy, Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine have been selected in the competition of the fifth edition of Ceau, Cinema! Festival, which will take place during July 19th-22nd in Timişoara and Gottlob. Five of the six films competing for the Ceau, Cinema! Award „Răzvan Georgescu” and for the Audience Award, offered by Casa Auto Timişoara, will have their premiere in Romania. Two of them are made by young female directors. Selected in 2017 for the Cannes Festival Un Certain Regard section, „Out” is the debut film of the Slovak director György Kristóf. „Out” follows the trip through Eastern Europe of a man in his fifties, who is in search of a job, but who finnaly gets involved in several strange incidents. „3/4” is the fiction feature debut of the Bulgarian director Ilian Metev, who won the Golden Leopard award for Cineasti del presente at Locarno 2017 and the great prize of the international competition at Sofia Festival 2018....

Review Andrei Ujică at Ceau, Cinema!

Andrei Ujică, one of the most appreciated representatives of the world’s New Non-Fictional Cinema, will be paid homage and reviewed at the fifth edition of Ceau Cinema! Festival, which will take place during July 19th – 22nd in Timișoara and Gottlob. The director will come to Ceau, Cinema! to show to the audience from Timișoara his trilogy focused on the end of Communism – ”Videograms of a Revolution”, ”Out of the Present” and ”The Autobiography of Nicolae Ceaușescu” – and to hold a masterclass. Andrei Ujică is born on 1951, in Timișoara, where he made his early debut as a writer. Having graduated Philology, he went to Germany in 1981, where he joined the academic community, teaching literary theory, filmology and mediology, at the University of Mannheim.
