„3/4”, the winner of the Ceau, Cinema! Award „Răzvan Georgescu”

The Bulgarian film „3/4”, made by the young director Ilian Metev, was selected by the jury as the winner of „Răzvan Georgescu” award for the best film in competition at the fifth edition of the festival Ceau, Cinema!, which took place during July 19th – 22nd in Timișoara and Gottlob and which summed over 3.000 viewers. The jury made of actress Alina Grigore, the film critic Ileana Bîrsan and the director Florin Iepan decided that the Ceau, Cinema! Award „Răzvan Georgescu” go to the production „3/4”, the fiction debut of the Bulgarian director Ilian Metev. The award amounts €1.500 and it is granted by the festival. „The Story of a Summer Lover” will open Ceau, Cinema!

„Povestea unui pierde-vară” (”The Story of a Summer Lover”), directed by Paul Negoescu and staring Alexandru Papadopol in the leading role, will be released at Timișoara in the opening night of Ceau, Cinema! Festival. The audience will also have the opportunity to view three of the most awaited new Romanian documentaries, „Procesul” (”The Trial”), „Dacii liberi” (”The Free Dacians”) and „Licu, a Romanian story”, as well as „Pororoca”, by Constantin Popescu. Compared with Woody Allen’s films, „The Story of a Summer Lover” (2018) is focused on a 42 years old math teacher at the Polytechnic University in Bucharest, who has to change his life style and grow up as soon as his open relationship with his partner begins to get complicated. Premieres for Romania, in the competition of Ceau, Cinema!

Six films made by directors from Bulgaria, Croatia, Italy, Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine have been selected in the competition of the fifth edition of Ceau, Cinema! Festival, which will take place during July 19th-22nd in Timişoara and Gottlob. Five of the six films competing for the Ceau, Cinema! Award „Răzvan Georgescu” and for the Audience Award, offered by Casa Auto Timişoara, will have their premiere in Romania. Two of them are made by young female directors. Selected in 2017 for the Cannes Festival Un Certain Regard section, „Out” is the debut film of the Slovak director György Kristóf. „Out” follows the trip through Eastern Europe of a man in his fifties, who is in search of a job, but who finnaly gets involved in several strange incidents. „3/4” is the fiction feature debut of the Bulgarian director Ilian Metev, who won the Golden Leopard award for Cineasti del presente at Locarno 2017 and the great prize of the international competition at Sofia Festival 2018....

Review Andrei Ujică at Ceau, Cinema!

Andrei Ujică, one of the most appreciated representatives of the world’s New Non-Fictional Cinema, will be paid homage and reviewed at the fifth edition of Ceau Cinema! The Ceau, Cinema! Trophy, in memory of director Răzvan Georgescu

The Trophy of the Ceau, Cinema! Festival Competition from Timișoara will be dedicated, as from this year, to the memory of the late director Răzvan Georgescu. Starting with the fifth edition of the festival, the award for the best film will be named the Ceau, Cinema! Trophy „Răzvan Georgescu”, in memory of the well-known documentary director. He passed away on July 24th, 2017, at the age of 51, in Germany, his country of residence since 1989, when he left Timișoara. In 2015, on the second edition of the festival, the renovated cinema theater from Gottlob (Timiș county), was inaugurated with the documentary „Trading Germans” (2014), in the presence of Răzvan Georgescu, one of the closest friends and supporters of the festival. Over 2500 spectators at the 4th edition of Ceau, Cinema!

Over 2.500 spectators took part in almost 30 film screenings at the 4th edition of Ceau, Cinema! Festival, which took place between 20 and 23 July in Timisoara and Gottlob The Ceau Cinema! 2017 Trophy, worth of 1.500 EUR, was awarded to the film „Mister Universo” (Austria-Italy), directed by Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel. The award was granted by the jury formed by the producer Anamaria Antoci, the actor Alexandru Potocean and film critic Catalin Olaru, who evaluated all six films from the competition. The Audience Award worth of 500 EUR, offered by Kathrein Romania, was established by popular vote of the spectators and it was granted to Bulgarian film ”Gloria” (”Slava”), directed by Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov. The Vitas Romania Award for independent or debut film, worth of 1.000 EUR, was granted to Italian production ”Pawn Street” (”Le ultime cose”), the debut film of young director Irene Dionisio. Six daring films compete for the Grand Award and for the Audience Award on the fourth edition of Ceau, Cinema! Film Festival, which will take place on July 20th – 23rd in Timişoara and Gottlob. „Planet Petrila” will open Ceau, Cinema! Festival

One of this year’s most expected Romanian documentaries, „Planet Petrila”, directed by Andrei Dăscălescu, will be screened in premiere in Timişoara in the opening of the fourth edition of Ceau, Cinema! Festival, which will take place on July 20th – 23rd.
