Ceau, Cinema! is a film festival dedicated to European cinema and which traditionally takes place in mid-July in Timisoara. The festival started in 2014 with a pilot edition, and since then it has become a landmark on the cultural agenda of the city.
The festival runs for four or five days, in several spaces at the same time (cinemas or alternative spaces). The selection includes around 40 films, divided into various sections: Competition (dedicated to films made by filmmakers from countries that have traditional minorities in Banat), retrospectives, Focus, Open-Air Screenings, Local Films (dedicated to filmmakers from Banat region), Ceau, Junior! (dedicated to children), Doc-minica (dedicated to documentaries), Special Screenings.
Also, the festival organizes workshops, debates, masterclasses, meetings with filmmakers, exhibitions, book launches.
Among the guests so far we mention actors such as Vlad Ivanov, Maria Drăguş, Alina Grigore, Alexandru Papadopol, Toma Cuzin, Alexandru Potocean, Andreea Vasile, Ioana Bugarin, Laurenţiu Bănescu, Mara Bugarin, Alina Ilea, Claudia Ieremia, Boris Gaza, directors such as Andrei Ujică, Cristian Mungiu, Alexandru Solomon, Želimir Žilnik, Eugen Jebeleanu, Ivana Mladenovic, Andrei Dăscălescu, Paul Negoescu, Florin Iepan, Nora Agapi, Claudiu Mitcu, [Răzvan Georgescu], Bogdan Theodor Olteanu, Ruxandra Ghiţescu, Cristina Groşan, Alexandru Belc, Andra Tarara, Alina Manolache, producers such as Ada Solomon, Anamaria Antoci, Anda Ionescu, critics such as Irina Margareta Nistor, Andrei Gorzo, Victor Morozov, Cătălin Olaru, Ileana Bârsan, Lucian Maier.
The festival is organized by the Pelicula Culturală Association and was founded together with the Marele Ecran Association.
