Over 2.500 spectators took part in almost 30 film screenings at the 4th edition of Ceau, Cinema! Festival, which took place between 20 and 23 July in Timisoara and Gottlob
The Ceau Cinema! 2017 Trophy, worth of 1.500 EUR, was awarded to the film „Mister Universo” (Austria-Italy), directed by Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel. The award was granted by the jury formed by the producer Anamaria Antoci, the actor Alexandru Potocean and film critic Catalin Olaru, who evaluated all six films from the competition.
The Audience Award worth of 500 EUR, offered by Kathrein Romania, was established by popular vote of the spectators and it was granted to Bulgarian film ”Gloria” (”Slava”), directed by Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov.
The Vitas Romania Award for independent or debut film, worth of 1.000 EUR, was granted to Italian production ”Pawn Street” (”Le ultime cose”), the debut film of young director Irene Dionisio. The award was established by the team of Ceau, Cinema! and Vitas Romania.
Very successful among spectators were evening open air screenings in the „Capitol” Summer Garden from Timisoara. Almost 700 spectators were present at the Opening Gala and the screening of the documentary film „Planeta Petrila” directed by Andrei Dascalescu, a record number of spectators for all 4 editions of Ceau, Cinema! More than 400 spectators have seen the Closing Gala and Romanian film „Marita” by Cristi Iftime, which had its national premiere at the festival.
Among our special guests there were the producer Ada Solomon and director Alexandru Solomon, who presented his latest film “Tarzan’s Testicles” („Ouale lui Tarzan”), „Planeta Petrila” documentary’s director Andrei Dascalescu and its protagonists – coal miner Catalin Cenusa and cartoonist Ion Barbu – next to actors Alex Margineanu, Cristine Cizmas, Alina Ilea and Laurentiu Banescu. The last 3 have also been our presenters this year.
The fourth edition of Ceau, Cinema! film festival took place between July 20th -23rd in Timişoara and Gottlob, the first Romanian village with a modern cinema theater.
Ceau, Cinema! is dedicated to the European cinema and it is organized by the Association „Marele Ecran” and the Association „Pelicula Culturală”.
